Oud Festival - Triveni: The Celestial Confluence of Indian Classical Music

In Sanskrit, Triveni describes the confluence of three mythical rivers. The performance brings together three of the great masters of Indian classical music – Grammy Award winner and bansuri flutist Rakesh Chaurasia, successor to his uncle and teacher, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, the greatest bansuri player of all time, together with Purbayan Chatterjee, the leading sitar player of his generation, and virtuoso tabla player Ojas Adhiya. Such a summit meeting rarely takes place, and this is the first time it is set to be held in Israel.
Triveni will offer the meditative spirit, spontaneous improvisations and sweeping rhythm that characterize the great tradition of Indian classical music. The three masters will soar into new realms in a performance that combines tradition and innovation, depth and daring. It is a unique, one-time experience in which one can hear how the Indian raga and tala – melodic structures and rhythmic cycles – serve as a musical canvas in the hands of three master artists.
