A unique joint performance, their first in Israel, especially for the Oud Festival, by veteran Greek singer Babis Tsertos and young singer and santur player Areti Ketime. The two will present rooted Greek folk music – rebetiko, the Greek blues, and Smyrneika – the music brought with them by the Greek refugees.
Tsertos has been an acclaimed musician for more than fifty years and is considered one of the most important rebetiko singers of his generation. He has performed alongside the Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra, Glykeria and others. With his rich voice, he conveys the emotion of an entire era and movingly connects past and present. Ketime has performed alongside George Dalaras and Glykeria, and continues the Greek tradition in her own way without losing the authenticity that characterizes her.
