A sweeping musical journey to the roots of Arabic music with renowned oud virtuoso Prof. Taysir Elias, one of the world’s leading oud players and musicians today. Elias will perform a selection of canonical classical works alongside original compositions of his own, reflecting his multicultural artistic world. The concert will also include improvisational passages and complete taqasim, expressing different interpretations, philosophical and emotional depth, and spiritual elevation – “tarab”.
Prof. Elias, renowned for his virtuoso playing, has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras in Israel and around the world and has collaborated with great artists across the globe, including Zakir Hussain, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Itzhak Perlman, Iván Fischer, Paco de Lucía, Wadih El Safi, Munir Bashir and others. Elias has received a range of important awards in Israel and abroad, and this year was also awarded the Shulamit Aloni Lifetime Achievement Award.
In the performance, Prof. Elias will host one of the great musicians in Israel and the world – conductor, composer, pedagogue and virtuoso mandolin player Shmuel Elbaz.
