Oud player, composer and researcher Dr. Wassim Odeh presents a new chamber performance marking his creative path between the tradition of classical Arabic music and the art of maqam, and original works and arrangements. The performance combines melodic richness, rhythmic complexity and live, sweeping and powerful improvisation. Odeh’s trio brings together the oud, piano and percussion, creating a unique sound that connects his new original compositions with gems from the Arabic and Western repertoire in original arrangements. Odeh is one of the distinctive voices in contemporary Arabic music and collaborates with international artists such as oud master Simon Shaheen, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, the London Sinfonietta and Radiohead.
