The Hullegeb Festival will open with a performance by the Addis Alem Combo consisting of five virtuoso musicians—bass player Yossi Fine, oud and violin player Yair Dalal, vocalist and saxophonist Abatte Barihun, percussionist Ben Eilon and msenqo player and vocalist Adoniya Goada. They come together in a one-time performance creating a hypnotic connection between desert songs, Ethiopian melodies, funk and ethno-jazz. The quintet will host vocalist Rudy Beinsin.
Fine is a producer with an international career who played in the past with Lou Reed and David Bowie. Dalal is a leader on the Israeli and international ethnic music scene. Barihun is a key figure in Israeli ethno-jazz, about to release a new disc and a new performance with Ehud Banai, Kutiman, Anat Porat and others. Ben Eilon is a gifted and innovative percussionist who appears frequently in Israel and abroad. Adoniya Goada appears with various ensembles of Ethiopian music, in Israel and in Ethiopia.
