Discussion and poetry in four encounters, each hosting a poet and analyzing the connections between Israeli poetry and that of other countries in the region. Ronny Someck will talk about his latest book and about being the “exiled Iraqi poet”; Tehila Hakimi will speak about the new Eastern wave in Hebrew poetry; Professor Ariel Hirschfeld will analyze the influence of Um Kalthoum; and Yonit Palomba Naaman will explore questions of body, gender and race through poetry.
Editor and moderator: Guy Finkelstein
Yonit Palomba Naaman, poetry scholar and recipient of the Prime Minister's Prize for Hebrew Literary Works, will discuss her poems about body, inside and outside, both in relation to poetry and to the “Yemenite body,” against the background of questions of gender and race at their points of encounter with society and culture.
