Fantasy for Kamanja and Oud has been specially produced for the Oud Festival. An intimate and exciting encounter between two brothers, vocalist and kamanja and nay player Yagel Haroush and oud player Uriah Haroush, with choral accompaniment. The performance reconstructs one of the most ancient and moving rituals of night song—tikkun hatzot. Alongside psalms and the bakashot piyyutim, new and original piyyutim from Yagel Haroush’s new album, “Shirim lehatzot haleyl” will be performed. These piyyutim, written by Yagel Haroush, were specially composed for performance during tikkun hatzot and are accompanied by new compositions for kamanja and oud in the ancient Maqam Nawa—the musical mode of the night. Together, these comprise a modern tikkun hatzot.
