The Firqat Alnour Orchestra for Oriental Classical Music salutes Raymonde Abecassis—the unchallenged queen of Moroccan sha`abi music. Abecassis is an admired and beloved vocalist, a regular and much sought guest at various festivals around the world and in Morocco in particular, including the Moroccan royal court. The musicians of Firqat Alnour, conducted by Ariel Cohen, are regarded as one of the leaders in Israel in the realm of Arabic and eastern classical music. The joint performance with Abecassis promises a celebration of music from the Maghreb and Moroccan sha`abi music, with a variety of rhythmic and joyous songs that will leave nobody sitting down.
