Vocalist-paytanit-composer Maureen Nehedar, one of the most original innovators in Jewish music, brings the premier of her album Why Do You Stand Afar to Confederation House. The performance offers new songs from her album of piyyutim, all her own compositions. In addition, the performance will include songs from her successful album of piyyutim titled Asleep in the Bosom of Childhood and from the beautiful album of Persian folk songs, Gole Gandom. These songs will be presented in surprising new arrangements for chamber ensemble, relying upon Nehedar’s bewitching charisma and hypnotic voice. Nehedar will appear together with Arab violinist Johanna Ritmuller.
